Privacy Policy

What GoldStar collects

Nothing is stored by GoldStar. We have no database, no user accounts, and no analytics tracking. When you generate a note, the form data you entered is sent to our server, used to create your note, and then discarded. It is never written to disk or logged.

What is sent to Anthropic

GoldStar uses Claude AI (made by Anthropic) to generate progress notes. When you click “Generate Note,” the following information is sent to Anthropic's API:

• Student's first name
• Grade level and reporting period
• Selected academic skills and performance levels
• Selected social-emotional observations
• Any text you typed in Strengths, Areas to Grow, or Additional Notes

Anthropic's data handling is governed by their privacy policy. We recommend not entering student last names or any other personally identifiable information beyond first name.

Cookies and tracking

GoldStar uses no cookies, no tracking pixels, and no third-party analytics. We do not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any similar service.

Your browser's localStorageis used only to count how many notes you've generated today. This counter resets daily and never leaves your device. Session history (if used) is stored in sessionStorage and is automatically cleared when you close the tab — it is never sent anywhere.

FERPA guidance

GoldStar is designed to minimise student data exposure. To stay within FERPA best practices when using this tool:

• Use student first names only — never include last names
• Do not include student ID numbers, birth dates, or addresses
• Do not include specific test scores, IEP details, or medical information
• Do not include information that would identify a student to a third party
